Multilayer ETFE facade

Three membranes, two air cavities and adjustable light.

The advanced configuration uses a double-cavity facade formed by three ETFE membranes. It must be adapted to local climate, loads, condensation, drainage and the selected supplier.

01

Clear outer membrane

The first weather layer and a high-transmission daylight surface.

02

Diffuse middle membrane

An optional fixed layer to distribute light more evenly and reduce contrast across crops.

03

Inner layer and IR-CT

An inner membrane completes the cavities; a mobile ETFE IR-CT screen modulates infrared radiation. A thermoreflective finish applied to ETFE foil can substantially reduce infrared solar gain; some solutions report reductions approaching 45%, subject to confirmation against the selected product’s technical data.

04

Integrated arch

The glulam arch sits within the envelope assembly; Keder profiles, aluminium, seals and thermal breaks are detailed through engineering.

05

Optional insulated wall

For an east-west orientation, the opaque facade can target high thermal resistance and concentrate technical services and equipment.
